Music, Creativity, Authenticity, and Resources for Domestic Violence Survivors
First, I just want to personally say that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Although there are a lot of obstacles that you have to overcome to get back to loving yourself and LEARNING to love yourself, it is possible! I found that there are SO MANY RESOURCES for survivors and PEOPLE THAT WANT TO HELP you heal and transition into a new place of safety, self love and stability. As a survivor of domestic violence, I would like to offer a few resources that I found immensely helpful through my transitioning/healing process.
Back in 2020, I had no idea on what I had to do or who to go to on order to move on and continue living life without feeling like everything was falling apart. I was hurt, I was traumatized, and at the time, could not even acknowledge that I was truly in an abusive relationship. I remember days and nights I would just be researching the signs and red flags of abuse, and breaking down in tears realizing that everything I was reading was everything I experienced and went through. Since then, I discovered an AMAZING program called “Friends of the Family” that not only helped me transition through counseling services and free legal help with protective/restraining orders, but, they also helped me financially offering me different grants and rental assistance programs I was able to apply for and participate in. Below are some links for Transitional Housing, free counseling services, survivor advocate information, information on signs of abuse/what abuse is and what it looks like, etc.
Know that although this time for you may not be easy, you do not have to do it alone and there are people rooting for you and your growth! (ME INCLUDED!)
